นีลบรรพตเทพสุดาเป็นเทพธิดาผู้ดูแลงานฝีมือ การค้าขาย และการเดินทางผ่านป่าเขา พระนางเป็น บุตรีของ “ปู่เจ้าเขาเขียว” ผู้คุ้มครองภูผาและผืนป่าศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ทำให้พระนางมีพลังแห่งธรรมชาติ ความหนักแน่น และความคุ้มครองที่เกิดจากสายเลือดของผู้รักษาป่าเขามาแต่โบราณ ในคติพื้นบ้าน พระนางเป็นผู้คอยเฝ้าดูแลผู้ที่ต้องเดินทางค้าขายผ่านเส้นทางทุรกันดาร ซึ่งเป็นวิถีสำคัญของผู้คนในอดีต
