025 ท้าววิรุฬหก Virulhaka

๑ ใน ๔ ท้าวจตุโลกบาล ท้าววิรุฬหกทรงเป็นอธิบดีปกครองดูแลทิศใต้ ประทับอยู่บนสวรรค์ชั้นที่หนึ่ง คือ สวรรค์ชั้นจาตุมหาราชิกา ซึ่งตั้งอยู่บริเวณเชิงเขาพระสุเมรุ ท้าววิรุฬหก ทรงเป็นหัวหน้าหรืออธิบดีปกครองเหล่า กุมภัณฑ์ ซึ่งเป็นอมนุษย์จำพวกยักษ์หรืออสูร ที่มีรูปร่างแปลกๆ คือมีท้องใหญ่ ตัวดำ พุงขึ้น ตัวใหญ่มหึมา ท่าทางดุร้าย กับทั้งมีอัณฑะเหมือนหม้อ หน้าที่นี้ทำให้ท่านมีอำนาจในการควบคุมดูแลบริวารจำนวนมหาศาล นอกจากนั้นะบ้างก็ว่าท้าววิรุฬหกปทรงปกครอง ครุฑ กินร กินรี อีกด้วย

VirūlhakaThao Virūlhaka is one of the Four Heavenly Kings (Chatur Loka Bala). He is the sovereign who governs the South. He resides in the first celestial level, Catumaharajika Heaven, situated at the base of Mount Meru. Thao Virūlhaka is the chief or governor of the Kumbhandas (a type of sub-human/giant/demon often depicted as large-bellied, dark-skinned, and fierce). This duty grants him the power to control a vast number of followers. In some accounts, he also governs the Garudas, Kinnaras, and Kinnaris.
