สุพรรณมัจฉาเป็นธิดาของทศกัณฐ์ ผู้มีรูปกายครึ่งคนครึ่งปลา งดงามดั่งทองคำตามนามของนาง เมื่อหนุมานยกกองทัพลิงมาสร้างสะพานต่อไปยังลงกา นางได้รับคำสั่งให้มาขัดขวางโดยการเก็บก้อนหินทิ้งสู่ทะเล
Suvannamaccha (literally “Golden Fish”) is the daughter of Thotsakan (Ravana), possessing the form of a half-human, half-fish being. Her beauty is as radiant as gold, as reflected in her name.
When Hanuman led the army of Vanaras to construct a bridge toward Lanka, she was ordered to obstruct the effort by discarding the stones into the sea. However, her confrontation with Hanuman unexpectedly led her to fall in love with him.
This deep bond caused her to cease her resistance, and the two later had a son named “Macchanu,” who possessed the powers of both monkey and fish.
Suvannamaccha thus represents beauty, gentleness, and the light of love shining through the darkness of war.
