อวตารลำดับที่ 6 ของพระนารายณ์ ผู้เป็นนักบวชแต่มีอุปนิสัยดุและทรงพลังเหมือนนักรบเพราะสืบสายจากวรรณะกษัตริย์ เขามีขวานศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ที่ได้รับจากพระศิวะ พระนารายณ์อวตารเป็นปางนี้เพื่อลงโทษกษัตริย์ที่ใช้อำนาจอย่างไม่ชอบธรรม นอกจากนี้ยังเป็นครูในศิลปะยุทธ์ของวีรบุรุษหลายคนในมหาภารตะ เช่น ภีษมะและกรณะ

ParashuramaThe sixth avatar of Lord Narayana (Vishnu), who was a Brahmin priest but possessed the fierce and powerful temperament of a warrior, as he also descended from the Kshatriya (warrior) caste. He wielded a divine axe (Parashu), which he received from Lord Shiva. Vishnu took this avatar to punish kings who misused their power unjustly. He also served as a guru in the art of combat for several heroes in the Mahabharata, such as Bhishma and Karna.represents the act of salvation and guidance for the virtuous to escape danger.
