| สุริยเทพเป็นโอรสของฤๅษี กัสยปะ (Kashyapa) และเทวี อทิติ (Aditi) ทำให้เป็นหนึ่งใน “อาทิตยะ” ผู้ให้แสงและกำกับวัฏจักรโลก มเหสีหลักคือ สัญญา (Sanjna) มีบุตรคือยมราช (Yama) ผู้ปกครองความตายและความยุติธรรม และ ยมุนา (Yamuna) เทพีแห่งสายน้ำศักดิ์สิทธิ์ พร้อมทั้ง ตาปตี (Tapati) ธิดาแห่งความร้อนและงามสงบ อีกทั้งมี ไววัสวต มนู (Vaivasvata Manu) ผู้สร้างยุคมนุษย์ปัจจุบัน ภรรยารองคือฉายา (Chhaya) ผู้ให้กำเนิดพระเสาร์หรือศนิเทพ (Shani) เทพเสาร์ ผู้แทนกรรม |
| Surya is the son of the sage Kashyapa and the goddess Aditi, making him one of the Adityas, the solar deities who radiate light and regulate the cosmic order. His principal consort is Sanjna (Sangya), who bore Yama, the god of death and justice, as well as Yamuna, the goddess of the sacred river, and Tapati, the serene goddess of gentle heat and beauty. Sanjna also gave birth to Vaivasvata Manu, the progenitor of the current human age. His second consort is Chhaya, the shadow goddess, who gave birth to Shani, the god of Saturn and the divine embodiment of karma. |
