018 พระแม่คงคา Ganga

พระแม่คงคาคือเทวีแห่ง สายน้ำศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ผู้ชำระล้างมลทินของโลกด้วยความเมตตาและความบริสุทธิ์ ทรงเป็นธิดาของ ท้าวหิมวัต (Himavan) และเป็นพี่น้องกับพระแม่ปารวตี พระนางเคยสถิตอยู่ในสวรรค์ ก่อนที่มนุษย์จะอธิษฐานขอให้พระนางไหลลงสู่โลกเพื่อชำระบาป การเสด็จลงสู่โลกของพระแม่คงคานั้นทรงพลังจนพระศิวะต้องรองรับด้วยชฎาของพระองค์ เพื่อให้สายน้ำอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ไหลลงสู่มนุษย์อย่างอ่อนโยนผู้คนบูชาพระแม่คงคาเพื่อขอความสะอาดบริสุทธิ์ ความปล่อยวาง การก้าวผ่านบาปหรืออดีตที่เจ็บปวด ความอุดมสมบูรณ์ของชีวิต และการคุ้มครองจากภัยพิบัติทางน้ำ พระนางคือสายน้ำศักดิ์สิทธิ์ที่เชื่อมสวรรค์และโลกมนุษย์ไว้ด้วยความเมตตาอันไม่มีที่สิ้นสุด

Ganga Devi (พระแม่คงคา) is the goddess of the Sacred River who cleanses the impurities of the world with compassion and purity. She is the daughter of Himavan (Thao Himawat), the personification of the Himalayas, and the sister of Parvati.
She once resided in the heavens before humans prayed for her to descend to earth to cleanse sins. Ganga’s descent to the mortal world was so powerful that Lord Shiva had to receive her in his matted locks (jata) to allow the holy water to flow gently to humanity.
People worship Ganga Devi to ask for cleanliness and purity, the power of letting go, the ability to move past sins or a painful past, the abundance of life, and protection from water-related disasters. She is the sacred river that connects heaven and the human world with unending compassion.
