067 พระศิวะดื่มพิษ Halahala

เมื่อเหล่าเทพและอสูรร่วมกันกวนเกษียรสมุทรเพื่ออัญเชิญน้ำอมฤต สิ่งแรกที่ผุดขึ้นมากลับเป็นพิษร้ายแรงชื่อฮาลาฮาลา ซึ่งสามารถทำลายโลกทั้งสามได้ในพริบตา เหล่าเทพต่างหวาดกลัวจนต้องไปขอความช่วยเหลือจากพระศิวะ พระองค์จึงทรงรับพิษทั้งหมดเข้าสู่พระศอเพื่อปกป้องสรรพชีวิต ทำให้พระศอเปลี่ยนเป็นสีคราม จึงได้พระนามว่า นีลกัณฐ์ (ศอสีฟ้า) พิษนี้ถูกกักไว้ด้วยพลังโยคะ ทำให้ไม่แพร่สู่ร่างกายส่วนอื่น แสดงถึงพลังแห่งการเสียสละและการควบคุมพลังทำลายล้าง พระศิวะดื่มพิษจึงเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของความกล้าหาญ การปกป้องโลก และพลังจิตที่ยิ่งใหญ่เหนือทุกสิ่ง.

When the Devas (gods) and Asuras (demons) jointly churned the Ocean of Milk (Ksheer Sagar) to retrieve the Elixir of Immortality (Amrita), the first thing to emerge was a terrible poison named Halahala, which could destroy the three worlds in an instant. The deities, terrified, went to seek help from Lord Shiva.
He then consumed the entirety of the poison into His throat to protect all living beings, causing His throat to turn blue. He was thus named Nilakantha (Blue-Throated). The poison was contained by His yogic power, preventing it from spreading to the rest of His body, demonstrating the power of sacrifice and the control over destructive forces.
Lord Shiva drinking the poison is thus a symbol of courage, the protection of the world, and a mighty spiritual power transcending everything.
